I love organic food for many reasons, which I explain here. I recently learned about the company Organics Live and I was impressed by what they offer, so I decided to try their services. The company delivers certified organic, sustainably produced and locally grown produce to homes for considerably less than shopping retail. There are locations across Canada so you can connect with your closest one, and they also have expansion plans in the U.S.
I really like how everything Organics Live delivers food that is sustainably produced, with a focus on supporting local farmers. Their selection of food is always in-season, local and fresh. Organics Live’s mission is “to build sustainable local food systems by providing small businesses the support they need to move sustainably produced goods and services from makers to consumers with as little waste as possible.”
It’s a pretty simple process to purchase your produce and the staff are wonderful to deal with. Each week (or less frequently) you can order a large, medium or small box of produce and choose from a wide selection of fruit and veggie options. The convenience of this service and the time saved shopping is quite fantastic. For my first box which I just received at my doorstep yesterday, I chose produce we eat regularly: apples, avocado, bananas, carrots, celery, corn, cucumber, garlic, grapefruit, kale, lemons, limes, mushrooms, oranges, peaches, tomatoes and some herbs.
I was very impressed. Every piece of produce felt and smelled incredible, looked farm fresh, full of colour and absent of any blemishes. I was told that everything gets well inspected and if something is not up to the brand’s (high) standards, it is replaced. So far, I made corn on the cob and tried the peaches and bananas. Everything has tasted outstanding so far and I am looking forward to more delicious organic food!
